Inter-Faith Visit

A group of fifteen people from St. Paul United Methodist Church in Lakeland visited the Masjid as-Salam on Tuesday July 14, 2009. They were greeted by Sheikh Maleck and Dr. Moinuddin and given a tour of the Masjid. After the tour, light refreshments were served to the guests and a discussion forum was held. The group members’ well-informed questions ranged from the aspects of an imam’s daily duties to the role of women in the community to the rituals of prayer. This visit and subsequent interfaith visits help to strengthen the common humanity that all people share. Masjid as-Salam and the Muslim Society of Memphis frequently host visitors from all faiths and help promote diversity and understanding amongst the many unique communities in Memphis and beyond.

“O mankind! We created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that ye may know each other...”
